New Year, No Resolutions

We get caught up in the routine of setting New Year Resolutions year after year after year. Resolutions that we either don’t start, give up before trying, or quit after the first week or so.

So this year I told myself that I will not make a New Year resolution. Instead I chose a word, yes ONE word, that I want to represent my entire year of 2019. This is the first time I am doing this but I feel it’ll be good for me. I feel like it will be easier to commit to a word as opposed to an entire goal in which I may lose interest or motivation in.

With that being said my word for 2019 is…

I chose the word Growth because we all want to grow. There is always room for growth in everyone. I personally want more growth in my personal life, my career, and just growth around me. I want to grow more as a person. I know that I have so much growing to do and so much potential to reach, so I want to work towards that. Become a better version of myself.

I know its not going to be easy but I’m up for the challenge. I know I’m going to have to look into ME. Meaning evaluate some things that I feel are holding me back in certain areas. Evaluating the people around me and close to me. Weeding out the negativity and surrounding myself with positive energy.

Some ways that I plan to do this over the year are:

  1. Growth is about transparency. Doesn’t have to be with others but being transparent with yourself is first and foremost the most important. I plan to practice that. It will not be easy but working towards a better me I have to at least try.
  2. Creating boundaries and non-negotiables: Non-negotiables meaning things that I WILL NOT allow in my life. Not allowing negativity when it has no place. Having a voice, learning my whole worth and believing in it. Not allowing anything or anyone to diminish that.

Once I achieve or start working towards this I will begin to grow. Creating a better space for me. Making room for the things I want.

Last week, I challenged my followers on instagram to do the same thing. To pick ONE word to represent their entire year of 2019 and here are some of the results that I got. (I won’t share names out of privacy)

So now I would like to challenge you, my readers from all around the world, to take a second and think of ONE word that you would like to represent your year 2019. Once you have thought of your word comment it below. Feel free to leave a reason why you chose that word and what you plan to do to work towards it.

Remember this is not something that will be completed over night, no matter what your word is. It will take work and dedication. As long as you want to see it in your year, you’ll work to achieve it.

Until next time loves,

I much prefer to choose a word of the year rather than a resolution. Last year I chose the word “Be”, but I forgot about it after the New Year stuff had passed. So I’m trying again this year!

And congratulations – someone thought this was the best post they’d read all week and decided to share it at the BlogCrush linky for you! Hurray! Feel free to pop over and collect your “I’ve been featured” blog badge #blogcrush

  2. I love this idea. I choose “Brand” because 2019 for me is all about my brand. It took me a full year of consistent blogging and trying to “find myself” through it to finally figure out what having a brand actually means…and I figured it from one simple podcast I listened to last week…amazing!

    1. I’m having trouble establishing my brand. I’m not sure my direction, sometime feel lost. I’m sure I will figure it out in due time but it can be frustrating. I’m sure that you and your brand will be successful ❤

  3. Great post! Success is definitely the word for me! I want to keep working and begin accomplishing and succeeding, attaining the things I’ve worked for. New Years Resolutions Never Work unless You Do!
